The title says it all – Star Trek made (an estimated) $42 million this weekend, to $147 million total. Right now, I’d give 50/50 odds that the movie makes over $300 million domestic by July (and if it doesn’t it’s probably because they lose so many screens over the next two months to Up, Terminator 4, Night at the Museum, etc.).
Even if it doesn’t hit $300 million, Paramount execs must be very happy right now – and I’ll bet you they sell a lot of Star Trek merchandise thanks to this (I know I’ve helped in this regard).
