Like many fans, I was taken aback and utterly gutted at the news that Gilbert Gottfried had passed away at the age of 67. His podcast is… WAS, a constant source of entertainment and joy in my life. I suspected something was up due to the number of reruns the past six months. Now I know.
Gilbert wasn’t just a brilliant twisted comedian and actor. He was also a “monster kid” and a movie fan, who loved discussing VERY obscure actors and films on the aforementioned podcast. A few years back I was in New York on business, and saw that Gilbert was performing at a nearby club. As I was on a deadline I ended up working in my hotel room and not buying tickets to see him live. Now I never will.
There are scores of great clips on Youtube, and I direct you there for some VERY NSFW clips. And if you have never seen the documentary about Gilbert, DO IT. It’s wonderful.
