Empathize two things: the added value that UX design will bring to the process (in that a user centered design process will bring clarity and focus into requirements and make what the team develops richer and more desirable) and that the process will be enhanced, not replaced. People are scared of change, and in order to make sure UX is embraced by the team it can't be disruptive or judgmental. It's one team, and everyone will succeed or fail together.
