When the Incredible Hulk TV show came out and was a surprise hit in the late 70s, Marvel cashed in by releasing a black and white (and later color) Hulk magazine. The Rampaging Hulk (later renamed “The Hulk”) featured a lengthy Hulk story as well as secondary stories that featured Moon Knight, Bloodstone and others.
Marvel was hoping that the Hulk show would lead people to buy The (out of normal continuity) Hulk magazine, and then the “halo effect” would turn them into regular comic readers. To encourage that, they produced ads that they put in both this and their Conan magazines that encouraged people to pick up some comics. Here is one of those ads:
