What are some of the toughest philosophical questions to answer?

The toughest question of all, especially in times of turmoil and disaster such as recently: Why?

The quest for meaning has defined many of our institutions and cultural traditions. We labor intently to ask that one simple question. Why did X happen? Why did so many people have to die or suffer?

Why?

The answer we define to that answer, defines us. My answer, more often than not, to that question?
