Zombieland did what I never thought possible – present a bleak future world where zombies rule and only a few scattered survivors remain… In a film that is one of the most optimistic upbeat movies I’ve seen all year.
Lightning, meet bottle.
As I smiled, laughed, and even cheered at the movie, I kept thinking this shouldn’t work. And yet, it does, and very very well.
I won’t dwell too much on the plot or characters … This is a movie that you should see with NO spoilers – the less you know, the more you’ll enjoy it. The surprises are great and there are many of them, and my favorite is the extended celebrity cameo which should be nominated for an Oscar… It’s that good.
Stop what you are doing and go see Zombieland. Is it as good as the previous (and awesome) zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead? Not quite. But it is close… Within inches… Of being as good. Which is the highest praise I can give.
