I’m a huge Packers fan, but the news today that Brett Favre has been reinstated as a player in the NFL and is on his way to training camp leaves me with mixed feelings. I think that Brett should never have retired in the first place but that point is moot; will he play? I doubt he will start any games in the regular season, but I would be suprised if he did not start one of the preseason games.
This whole thing is extremely unhelpful to the Green Bay organization, and will at the very least lead to a divided locker room. But after the initial issues, what then? Will Brett eventually lead a player rebellion of the Packer a la Conquest of the Planet of the Apes? Will he end up on the bench for the rest of his career taking constant calls from John Madden on his cell?
As they say, the future will decide…
