Goodbye Tom Poston

We are losing some greats, folks.

I can’t help but mention that fact everytime I post an celebrity obit because, well, it’s true. I have the sense the talent pool for entertainers is getting to a low point, with a slow leak similar to Lilek’s water feature. This is self-evident to me, especially when we look at the current crop of “personalities” who dominate today’s media, like Justin, Paris, or Britney – heck, even the names ring hollow.

Tom – that’s a solid name. And it belonged to a rock-solid talented man no longer with us. Tom Poston, comedian and actor died today. He started out on the Steve Allen show, later to become the Tonight show, and went on to be in Mork and Mindy, Newhart, and countless episodes of other shows. He was funny – frequently. And he made me happy. I hope that simple thought is spoken of me, when I am gone, because it’s high praise indeed.

Here’s the details. And here’s Mark Evanier, also saddened, posting his two cents on his friend.
