Heh… just read a message board comment that called J.J. Abrams “the hipster version of Michael Bay.” #STID

I think what we may be seeing is that #StarTrek as a movie property is played out. They need to do a new TV series.

Joseph Dickerson

I (semi-confidently) predict #StarTrekIntoDarkness will make less than $250m TOTAL worldwide BO. It’s the last #Trek movie for a while.

Joseph Dickerson

The good news is #STID has only opened in 15 countries… lots more territories to open in.

Joseph Dickerson

This isn’t about the merits of #STID, just the numbers. With the movie cost ~$190m, w/(at least) $50m marketing… $75m opening is Not Good.

Joseph Dickerson

If #STID box-office drops 50% next weekend it may struggle to get to $200m domestic. That doesn’t bode well for future #StarTrek movies.

Joseph Dickerson

If #StarTrekIntoDarkness only hits $75m for first 4 1/2 days, that has to disappoint Paramount. Less than the 2009 film’s opening.
