I’ve compiled another book of my photography, this one focused on some of my favorite shots that I took when I lived for over two years in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia. A week ago I was able to take a day off from business travel and visit Alcatraz Island, also known as “The Rock.” Here’s pics I took of the historic site:

Here’s an exhibit of sculptures made from LEGO bricks by artist Nathan Sawaya that is currently being shown in Town Hall, Sydney.

I’m a big proponent of the GTD, or “Getting Things Done” philosophy/process, and one key aspect of that experience is the idea of the “ubiquitous capture device.” Understanding that thoughts are transient, GTD insists that you “get stuff down” and put it somewhere for use and processing later. I think of my iPhone as my overall “ubiquitous capture device” for everything, and Instagram lets me share those photos and moments I capture with the world. Here’s some of my latest “captures.”

From a private collector who collected fossils and minerals all his life (and then donated it to the Australian government), here’s a one-of-a-kind collection of some of the world’s greatest examples of raw ores and fossils.

Had the opportunity to visit the really cool Legoland attraction in California with the family last week and I really love the miniature Lego versions of famous landmarks, as you see from the number of shots I took…

Did my annual weekend of high geekery this past few days at Dragon*Con 2010 (also known as Dragoncon) in Atlanta, GA. And here’s some pictures to prove it:

I’m an Architecture buff so what do i do? I take pictures of buildings. So, here’s pictures of some of the wonderful buildings I’ve seen in Sydney, Australia… a photo set that is sure to grow in the future.

I may post some thoughts tomorrow (when I recover) but until then here are some of the photos I took at the Star Trek KHAAANNN! in Las Vegas, still in progress (as of the time of this posting). I had to get home early because I’m traveling to Sydney for work again Monday and need some time to recover from all the “trekadence” before then.

Enjoying some well deserved family time, and am spending a couple of days in Savannah, GA. It’s hot, it’s humid, but it’s wonderful. Here’s some photos:

Actually got a day off from work duties here in Sydney and so I went down to visit the wonderful Navy Heritage museum in Sydney, at Garden Island. Here’s some pictures:

Since this is the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, I felt obligated to post SOMETHING about it or NASA, so here’s a photo gallery from the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center from a trip I took with my three boys on Memorial Day 2005. Enjoy.

I had the opportunity to take my son to the Civil War museum about an hour away (in Kennesaw, Georgia) and had a great time. Lots of authentic Civil War (or, as we call it in my home, the “war of northern aggression”) pieces, a great section on an old locomotive manufacturing plant and the process of building trains, a fun kids area, and (the highlight of the museum) a fantastic exhibit on the “great locomotive chase” that occurred in 1862 when Union spies stole The General engine and used it to wreck the line from Kennessaw to Chattanooga.

Disney made a film starring Fess Parker in the ’50s that featured the union forces as heroes… the movie they showed before you entered the locomotive chase exhibit (which used footage from the original Disney movie) had a slightly different take on who the “hero” was that day. The exhibit featured the restored “General” engine as well… I love trains.

A great place to drop by if you’re in the area. And, look! Photos!
