Several months ago I planned a Las Vegas trip for myself and my son Hunter as a graduation present (he finished high school in June) – he had never been to Vegas. Though he’s not yet old enough to do the “adult” Vegas stuff he could at least get a sense of “Sin City”. Being the geek that I am, I made sure to schedule the trip the same weekend of the official Star Trek convention that happens there annually. Since it is the 50th anniversary, it was the “place to be” for all Trek fans.
Thanks to a friend, I was able to get a pass and was able to spend a little bit of time checking things out. It was an impressive affair, and while I am not a fan of Creation I have to tip my hat to them for a pretty nice event.
As it may be the last Star Trek con I ever go to (I’m kind of over conventions) it was a nice way to end my 20+ year run of hitting such events.
