Photos: 2016 Joelanta Toy Show

I’m not the man I was.

One of the great joys in my life has been toy collecting, and one of THE toys central to that has been the toy that is my namesake: G.I.Joe. I’ve collected the 12″ figure, the smaller 1/6th scale figure – heck, I even bought the horrible SuperJoe figures that came out around 1978. I do not want to tell you how many Joes I have in my collection – thankfully, it is (ONLY) in the triple digits.

Every day, I apologize to the misses about them all. “This could have been a college fund for your sons!” She never has to say, because that truth is both implied and obvious.

And yet… I’ve lost the bug. Not that I don’t still buy plastic crap that I have nowhere to put, OH NO, I still do that. It’s just that now I am more selective, seeking out items that are exceptional. Quality is trumping quantity, because I have BUCKETS of quantity… lots more than I need, to be honest. #FirstWorldProblems

I was able to visit the JoeLanta toy show last month, which I have tried to attend every year since it first started a decade ago. I love seeing so many wonderful collectibles on display, but I no longer have the desire to buy them all.

I guess that’s maturity – or, in other words, I’m getting old.

Here’s some pics:
