Today is the day that Dale Cooper first arrived in the two of Twin Peaks – “Diane, 11:30 am, February 24th. Entering the town of Twin Peaks…” Fans around the world celebrate it as “Twin Peaks Day” and all over social media are images, quotes and art celebrating the series… and everyone is all the more excited this year since production is ongoing on a new season Peaks for Showtime.
I’m a huge fan of Twin Peaks. Or, as Trump would say, YUUUUGE. I have traveled to the actual Twin Peaks (North Bend, WA) numerous times. I own http://TheTwinPeaksGazette.com. I have dined with series co-creator Mark Frost and given his son some gifts. I also… know some things.
I think it will ROCK.
Everything I know lines up with one thing: This is not a cash-grab. This is a passion project, something that has been percolating (like a fish in a coffee pot) for YEARS. Misters Frost and Lynch are doing this because they have a story they want to tell, and it is… it WILL be… a story worth telling.
As a fan, I love Twin Peaks. But no more than the aforementioned Frost/Lynch. This is a labor of love, and I have every confidence they will stick the landing.
