Is it worth watching Twin Peaks if I know the killer?

Yes, because it’s not the destination… it’s the journey.

If someone told you before you saw Citizen Kane that Rosebud was a sled, you still should watch Citizen Kane…. Heck, you MUST watch Citizen Kane, because it is a seminal piece of filmmaking that influenced at least three generations of filmmakers (and counting).

Twin Peaks is not Citizen Kane, but it is in many ways the Citizen Kane of television. The modern TV drama, the Breaking Bads or The Sopranos or the Deadwoods or The X-Files… those shows would not exist if not for the startling cinematic vision that Twin Peaks brought to the small screen. Twin Peaks was a show ahead of its time, and when you look at the quirkiness, the beautiful cinematography, and the darkness… and, oh my, Twin Peaks is a dark place.

It was not only ahead of it’s time, it was a show unlike anything on the air at the time. When Twin Peaks was originally aired one of it’s lead-in shows was the Father Dowling Mysteries. Starring Tom Bosley. “Mr C” from Happy Days.

No wonder it only lasted two seasons.

So, absolutely watch the show… and get excited that after all this time we are able to resist that stance place where the birds sing a pretty song and there is always music in the air.
