Buy this: Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan Soundtrack from Mondo

Never go full hipster.

That, alas, is what I have done… In my man cave are stacks and stacks of vinyl, both new and old, and it has become my newest hobby/slash obsession. Recollecting albums I had as child, or buying new high-quality reissues of classics I only had in digital. And yes, I am one of those people who will claim that clean vinyl with a good amplifier and a high-end turntable sounds better than digital.

“The sound is so WARM, man…”

Hence, the reason for this post. Run, do not walk, to Mondotees.com and order the new 2LP reissue of James Horner’s classic soundtrack for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Remastered sound, exquisite artwork, and it sounds better than I have ever heard this score sound… ever.

(I had an original vinyl pressing that I ended up selling on eBay for quite a lot more than I paid for it – so this superior edition takes me full circle).

Khan is, of course, the “Citizen Kane” of Star Trek movies, because it’s damn-near perfect as a film, and works on every level. One level that is often under appreciated is Horner’s fantastic score, and in this 2LP edition you get EVERYTHING: Every arrangement, straight from the original masters. Including the wonderful rendition of Amazing Grace that gets me. Every. Time.

If you are a Trek fan who cannot play vinyl, I urge you to invest money in getting a setup so you can enjoy this. It’s THAT good. And it’s only $35!

So, what are you waiting for? GO HERE and order it before they sell out.
