My son Mike is a Marvel movies NUT, especially the Iron Man movies (and character). So when I decided I was going to take two of my sons to Disneyland as a pre-Christmas gift, I knew he was going to love the Superhero HQ exhibit that replaced Innoventions in Tomorrowland. To not spoil things, I didn’t tell him about it until we got there.
What I did not expect was how excited he got when he first saw the Hall of Armor – a replica of the one that is in Iron Man 2. He was as giddy and as happy as I have ever seen him, far from the morose pre-teen that he normally is. He took dozens of pictures with his smart phone, and was still excited about it two days later.
Disney magic.
While I miss seeing the Innoventions section, I can always visit the larger installation in Epcot. There is limited space in Disneyland (compared to Disney World), and so they decided to us that space to promote Marvel/Disney… Understandable and it works for comic geeks like yours truly.
