Photos: A Visit to 221B Baker Street

When I was in London last month, there was pretty much only one destination on my “bucket list” for the trip: 221B Baker Street.

That address is world-famous, and as a Baker Street Irregular (unofficial) I was obliged to pay a visit to the home of Sherlock Holmes.

The interesting thing is, the Sherlock Holmes Museum is not REALLY at 221B – it’s a block down from where that address SHOULD be. But, hey, it’s a museum dedicated to a fictional character that treats said character as if he was a real person, so that point is really trivial in comparison.

The museum is basically a recreation of the “flat” that Holmes, Watson and Mrs. Hudson lived at… and it’s as authentic as they can get it. If you are hard-core fan you will see little touches that the stories referred to, and if you are a casual fan you will appreciate the verisimilitude that is on display.

You buy your tickets at the obligatory gift shop, and then climb up three stories to see various rooms and displays. Wax figures on the third floor recreate famous scenes from Holmes case-files… no Giant Rat of Sumatra, unfortunately…

Here’s some photos for your enjoyment.
