The ad is one of the darkest advertisements ever made, and the very idea of the ad is off-putting and misguided. There were a lot of wrongheaded and stupid ads last night (I’m looking at you, Nissan and Coke), but this one took the cake. Well it would take the cake if the kid continued to have birthday parties (he doesn’t, because he’s dead).
The dead Nationwide kid became an instant Internet meme, and of course I had to join in.
