Another notable anniversary – James Bond turns 45

Well, the movie character, separated in countless ways from the original Fleming literary creation, turns 45 today. On October 5th 1962 Dr. No was released in the UK. Must have been something in the water over there that day, because that’s also the same day The Beatles released Love Me Do, their first single.

Amazing to see the cultural impact both phenomena had, and I appreciate the additional cross-reference that Connery’s Bond in Goldfinger compared drinking warm champaign to like “listening to the Beatles without earmuffs.”
