News just was announced today – we will see a boxed set on blu-ray of all five Planet of the Apes films (the one from Tim Burton… well, let’s try not to think about that, m’kay?), with TONS of brand-new extras. PLUS, for the first time ever, the UNRATED super-violent version of my second-favorite Ape film, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, will be released on home video.
I’ve spent two nights now moving furniture and redecorating (new couches for the play and family room arrived, as wells a new bed) and I’m finally done. For no reason save to play with the WordPress iPhone app some more, here are photos of my home office:
Well, it’s not much, but it may help deal with the gap in NuWho until Christmas. It’s a video that the producers of Doctor Who created for the proms/concerts in the UK this past month. When you watch, keep in mind that this video is projected above an orchestra and that The Doctor is “talking” to all the people in the orchestra and audience. The plot is wafer-thin, but hey, it’s new Doctor Who!
Just read some of the Amazon reviews for the recently released Odd Couple season 4 DVD set (which I was about to order) and am now depressed.
The last set had several edits due to music rights/clearance issues (primarily due to Paramount not wanting to pay for the use of the music, as happened with the recent WKRP sets). Well the edits on this season are, apparently, much worse (the show by this point was making lots of musical references). Over half of the episodes haves cuts, some of them pretty bad ones.
Sigh. I’ll still buy this, but this grates. I shutter to think what will happen to some of the season 5 episodes, as even more musical references are made that year…
The Dark Knight was number one again this past weekend, making over $75 million to have a grand total of $310 mil in 10 days (another box office record smashed). Good. Can it beat Titanic‘s record? I think at this point it’s a distinct possibility. This movie is a cultural phenomenon, now, and if it does not beat the record it will come close.
And the X-files movie bombed. Not a suprise, but I still feel sorry for the filmmakers.
I’m impressed (not with the bootleg video but the approach they are taking). The original Tron is like The Black Hole with a rabid fan base – lot’s of stuff going for it, but some pacing and story problems. I enjoyed the video games a lot more than the movie. But THIS… THIS I want to see. AND it even makes me want to rent/buy the original to see it again.
Let’s see this thing on Apple’s trailer site, in HD, ASAP. If only someone at Apple had an “in” with Disney to make such a thing happen… Oh, wait…
I'd like to thank the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, without whose assistance this site would not be possible.

@DVDGeeks Absolutely. I've stayed at Marriott so much for business I've reached Latinum status. The CEO called the other day to say "thanks" in reply to DVDGeeks10 hrs ago
